CBI chief A P Singh said Indians had stashed around $500 billion (about Rs 24 lakh crore) in tax havens such as Switzerland , Mauritius , Lichtenstein and British Virgin islands . Addressing the first Interpol global programme on anticorruption and asset recovery in the capital, Singh said Indians were the largest depositors in Swiss banks. The CBI chief’s disclosures are expected to add to the pressure the opposition has mounted on the UPA government to bring back black money deposited abroad.
